#FORT BOYARD GAMESHOW SERIES#

"Has any game show ever been as delightfully bonkers and high-concept as The Crystal Maze? Throwing its contestants into challenges across four zones - Aztec, Ocean, Futuristic, Medieval - here was a series that ambitiously stretched across time and space (in reality it was filmed in an old aircraft hangar in Essex!). The Crystal Maze - Simon Reynolds (Movies Editor) Just ask the Netherlands, where The Mole is 14 seasons in and still going strong. "Originally airing on Channel 5 for two series in 2001, the show is ripe for a relaunch. As players - and viewers - attempt to work out the Mole's identity, the show morphs into a full-blown whodunnit clues and red herrings are thrown around, alliances are formed and genuine players start acting suspiciously to throw others off. "So far, so straightforward - but one of them is the titular double agent, doing their best to sabotage the team's efforts while remaining undetected. Falling under the relatively niche banner of action-adventure-mystery game show (doffs cap to BBC One's The Murder Game), The Mole saw a team of contestants carry out a series of challenges to bank money that one of them would win at the end of the series. "Forget multiple-choice general knowledge teasers, the only question that mattered in this brilliantly addictive series was, "Who is the Mole?". Fun fact: did you know it was written by The Wombles' Mike Batt and sung by Captain Sensible? You do now." "Now that Jim Davidson has been given a surprising second chance, maybe it's time for him to return to primetime with John Virgo? If not, perhaps a reboot with Paddy McGuinness and Steve Davis? It would provide the BBC's snooker coverage with a much-needed boost, and would give us a chance to hear that awesome theme tune once again.

"It's quite astonishing to imagine a Saturday night TV show based around snooker attracting millions of viewers today, but it did happen before, and it can happen again! Big Break had a simple premise: contestants team up with genuine snooker stars to win prizes. I really enjoyed it."īig Break - Tom Eames (Entertainment Reporter) It was one of the nicest programmes of my life, doing that. It was with the late, great Alan Coren - it was fun. "Well, I spent six years of my life doing Call My Bluff, which I just thought was fabulous and I cannot understand why it's not on every single day. "These people still must exist, so I am hoping that one day they will come on Britain's Got Talent."Ĭall My Bluff - Sandi Toksvig (Host, Fifteen to One) This young boy could recognise the make and model of a car just by slamming the door! Another guy was blindfolded and would hear a vacuum cleaner picking up something from a mat and he would name the make and model of the hoover! It was amazing! "I can give you some great examples that still amaze me to this day. "This is an easy question: You Bet! It was one of my favourite TV shows and Matthew Kelly was one of my favourite presenters. You Bet! - Stephen Mulhern (Host, Catchphrase) Well, we asked that very question to Fifteen to One's Sandi Toksvig and Catchphrase's Stephen Mulhern - and then had a bit of office debate about our own favourites. Not only do we have all sorts of new formats making their way to screen, but some old favourites are getting a second lease of life, too - from Fifteen to One (airing daily on Channel 4) to the second series of the revived Catchphrase (Sundays on ITV.) But it got us thinking - what other game shows would we like to see return to our living rooms? 😫Ĭhallenge Yourself & Land Your Heli Here. It's game show heaven on television right now. If you're not successful then it's in the sea for you my Lad. The platform is there in real life but I've applied a bit of Licence & turned it into a Helipad with a Hard Deck so you can land your Helicopters on it. The Fort featured in a TV Game Show of the same name if you remember it. Above that were facilities for barbette guns and mortars. The floor above contained casemates for the emplacements of guns and further quarters. At the centre is a yard, and the ground floor provided stores and quarters for the men and officers. Fort Boyard is oval-shaped, 68 metres (223 ft) long and 31 m (102 ft) wide. In 1967, the final scene of the French film Les Aenturiers was filmed at the remains of the fort. Though a fort on Boyard bank was suggested as early as the 17th century, it was not until the 1800s under Napoleon Bonaparte that work began. Fort Boyard is a fort located between the Île-d'Aix and the Île d'Oléron in the Pertuis d'Antioche straits, on the west coast of France and is the filming location for the TV gameshow of the same name.
